January 3rd, 2010 — michael jackson thriller
Another posthumous honor for Michael Jackson – his classic 1983 music video “Thriller” has become the first music video to be inducted in the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress of the United States. The coordinator of the National Film Registry Preservation Board, Steve Leggitt, commented on why “Thriller” was chosen.
He stated that,
“Because of the way the recording industry is evolving and changing, we thought it would be good to go back to the development of an earlier seismic shift, which was the development of the music video”.
What makes this honor so important is that “Thriller” being included in the congress library of film will put the music video alongside other classic historic events such as original copies of classic films, TV and other recordings that have been determined as important American filmed moments. There is no denying that “Thriller” is the most mainstream, popular music video in pop culture. Michael Jackson in his prime, piping an addictive chorus while strutting around with ghouls was definitely an image that upped the bar for music videos at the time.

After weeks of speculation and rumors, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office report on the death of Michael Jackson has finally been released. Not only does officially it peg Jackson’s death to the lethal levels of the anesthetic in his system, but it also classifies the passing of the late pop legend as a homicide. So far, fan reaction has been a healthy mix of surprise, sadness, anger and outrage.
As Rolling Stone reported shortly after Michael Jackson death, a nurse/nutritionist who treated the star spoke out publicly about her fears that Jackson had gotten his hands on a powerful sedative called Diprivan or Propofol that’s used in hospitals.
A search warrant unsealed reveals Michael Jackson’s doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, had been giving the singer 50 milligrams of Propofol every night using an intravenous line. He told LAPD that he had been treating Jackson for insomnia.

The Official Michael Jackson Opus is the first new book to be sanctioned by Michael’s estate. This collector’s edition book will be published December 7th, with volumes flying off the shelves in time for the holidays. The Official Michael Jackson Opus will feature photos, essays and poetry, all bound in leather.
The Official Michael Jackson Opus was produced by publishing company Kraken Opus, which was in discussions with the star about the book before his death. The book, endorsed by Jackson’s estate, is described by the publishers as an ”exhaustively researched and lavishly produced work-of-art”.
Official Michael Jackson Opus will include lyrics never seen before, plus drawings and pictures from the singer’s personal archives.
